DUSO Champs- What to Expect
Hello Championship Families!
I can't believe 2025 DUSO Championships is finally here! We have been preparing all season for the main event; and the Sea Raiders are ready. Here are a few "tips and tricks" for the day.
1. Parking- Parking lots open at 6am. There will be designated parking areas for officials, team reps and coaches. Areas highlighted in GREEN are for general parking. Once the back lots by the tennis courts are full, overflow parking will head up to Linden Ave Middle School. There will be a drop off zone for families needing to park in overflow lots.
TOP SECRET- for Sea Raiders families ONLY- we can also park in Rec Park West lot (playground side) and walk over to the tents. Please DO NOT park on the neighborhood streets; your cars will be towed.
2. Warm-ups- 7-7:40am- Red Hook will only have 2 lanes to warm-up in. We will warm-up by age group. Group 1&2- 7-7:10; Group 3 7:10-7:25; Group 4 7:25-7:40. Swimmers who miss our warm-up will be able to join another team during second warm-ups.
3. Team Tent- Our tent is located behind the tennis courts and will be clearly labeled.
What to bring: Chairs, blankets, pillows, 2 pairs of clothes (warm clothes for the morning and shorts for afternoon), an extra bathing suit, 2 pairs of caps and googles, board games, card games, coloring books, (entertainment). Food- breakfast and lunch, lots of snacks and drinks!
4. Parade of Athletes 8:30-8:45
Our theme this year is Hawaiian Luau! Think Suffer Dudes and Dudettes! After warm-ups the Sea Raiders will dress up and get ready to "start the party!" We will have leis to hand out, some grass skirts, pompoms and temporary tattoos. Bring an props or costumes your swimmer may want to carry or wear during the parade. We will DANCE out to "Surfing USA" so get your camera's ready!
5. Food- Families are encouraged to bring their own drinks and snacks, but there will be food vendors on site and delivering. Some vendors will be CASH only and others will have VENMO. The Sea Raiders will also have a bake sale full of sweet and salty goodness- all proceed will go back to our team.
6. Freestyle Relays - For championships we will be placing relays based on swimmer performance the DAY OF championships. Relays will be finalized AFTER backstroke and be listed in the team tent. Coaches will also let chaperone's know who will be in the relay. Each age group is only allowed 3 relays- please DO NOT leave without checking in with your coach! We do know some swimmers need to leave early, please remind us that day as well! ***Only medley relays have been finalized as they are event 1***
7. End of Swim Meet: ALL teams are responsible for cleaning up under their team tents. We would ask our families to go around and make sure areas around tents are clean. Once the last event has swam and scores announce we will need to break down the pool area. Please report to the seeding tent inside the pool area AFTER the coaches relay and we will assign jobs for clean up.
8. Awards Dinner- 6:30-10pm
After clean-up families are invited to our team awards night! We will provide pizza and sweet treats. After trophies have been awarded swimmers are invited to partake in some "night swimming" and man hunt!
